Tagging — music, format and vibe

Every event can be tagged on three separate axes, and guests filter on all three when they are deciding where to go.

The three axes

Music genres — house, tech-house, deep house, afro house, techno, trance, drum and bass, disco, funk and soul, R&B, hip-hop, trap, pop, rock, jazz, latin, reggaeton, balkan, ex-Yu, domestic, turbo-folk, chalga, oriental, commercial, 80s–90s.

Formats — DJ set, live band, concert, festival, karaoke, quiz, open mic, themed night, party, after-party, matinee, brunch, pool party.

Vibes — ladies' night, student night, date night, rooftop, open air, beach, sunset, late night, all ages.

An event can carry several of each.

Important notes

An untagged event is invisible to the app's filters. A guest filtering for techno will not see an untagged techno night. This is not theoretical — the majority of events in Spotly today carry no tags at all, and their venues are losing reach they do not know about.

Tagging takes about twenty seconds. Make it part of every event you help a venue create.

The 30-second explanation

When you put the night up, tick what you play, what kind of night it is and who it is for. It takes twenty seconds. That is what puts you in front of someone scrolling for techno on a Friday who has never heard of you. If you skip it, you only reach people already looking for your name.
