Roles — who can do what
The five roles inside Spotly, and the one rule that decides which venue somebody can touch.
Every Spotly account has exactly one role. The role decides what kind of thing you can do; being attached to a venue decides which venue you can do it to.
The five roles
| Role | What it is |
|---|---|
| Guest | A normal customer. Cannot sign into the admin panel at all. |
| Manager | Runs the night. Reservations, events, the floor, the door. No settings, no billing. |
| Venue admin | The owner. Everything a manager can do, plus settings, payments and billing. |
| Super admin | Spotly's own team. Every venue, plus the things only we should touch. |
| Event promoter | Someone who brings guests to a specific event. Sees only their own events. |
The rule that matters
A manager can only touch venues they have been added to. That list lives on the venue itself, and it is the only thing that scopes access. Add someone to the venue and they can work on it; remove them and they cannot.
Venue admins and super admins are not limited that way — an admin sees every venue they own, and a super admin sees all of them.
A person can be two things at once
A member of staff who also brings guests can be both a manager and an event promoter. The admin panel then shows them a link across into their promoter view.
Important notes
A guest account cannot sign into the admin panel. If a venue owner tries to log in with the account they use for going out, they will be refused. They need a staff account — which is the same email, upgraded, not a second one.
