How table bookings work on Spotly, and why the floor plan is the thing venues react to.

A guest picks a date, a party size and an arrival time, and — at most venues — picks their actual table from a plan of the real room. The venue approves or declines. On the night the floor plan shows who is where, and the door scans people in.

Why a venue cares

Most venues take bookings by Instagram DM and write them in a book. That costs them no-shows they cannot see coming, tables sold below what they are worth, and a guest list that lives in one person's phone. Spotly replaces the book, and the venue keeps the guests.

How it works

  1. The venue draws its floor plan once — the real room, real tables, seats and prices.
  2. It decides whether guests pick their own table or the venue assigns them.
  3. Guests book. Free, or with a deposit or a package attached.
  4. The venue approves or declines each request.
  5. During service the live floor shows the room filling up, including guests who are mid-checkout.
  6. At the door, the booking's QR code is scanned.

Free or paid — the venue chooses

A reservation does not have to involve money. Plenty of restaurants and lounges take free bookings and never charge a cent. A club selling tables attaches a deposit or a bottle package, and then the booking is paid up front.

Both live in the same list and behave the same way.

The 30-second explanation

Your guests book a table from a plan of your actual room — they can see where they will be sitting. You approve every booking before it happens, so nothing lands that you did not agree to. During service you have your floor on a screen: who is in, who is late, which tables are free. And you can take a deposit or sell a bottle package with the booking, so the good tables are paid for before anyone walks in.
