Building the floor plan

The one setup task worth doing properly. Everything about reservations reads off this drawing.

What the venue does

1. Open the layout editor and create a layout.
2. Place the fixed things first — bar, stage, entrance, WC. They are what makes the plan legible.
3. Place tables. Set each one's seats, price and description.
4. Use the background layer for walls and boundaries, and mark anything unbookable as a no-go zone.
5. Group tables into areas if the room has them.
6. Save, and set it active.

Three layouts, and why

A venue can keep three. Typically: a normal night, a summer terrace, and a cleared floor for big events. Exactly one is live, and an event can point at a different one.

Do it with the venue, not for them

The person who knows which booth is the good one is the venue manager. Sit with them. A plan drawn by someone who has not stood in the room is a plan they will redo.

Important notes

The active layout is what guests book against. Drawing a beautiful new plan and forgetting to set it active is the most common floor plan mistake.
