Ticketing
Comp tickets
Issuing free entry, and why comps are counted separately from sales.
A venue can issue tickets for free — for press, artists, friends of the house. A comp is a real ticket with a real QR code that scans like any other.
Comps are counted on their own
The event console splits tickets into paid, via a package and comped. That separation is deliberate: a venue looking at "400 tickets issued" needs to know how many of those were sold.
Comp or guestlist?
Two different tools for two different situations.
| Use | Reach for |
|---|---|
| The venue is inviting someone | Comp ticket |
| A promoter is bringing a list of names | Guestlist |
A comp is issued by the venue against a tier. A guestlist entry belongs to a promoter and is how their arrivals get counted. See Promoters and guestlists.
