Ticketing

Price vs what you earn

Every ticket carries two numbers. Confusing them overstates a venue's income.

Every ticket type stores two prices. One is what the guest pays at checkout — Spotly's service fee is already baked into it. The other is what the venue earns from that ticket. Both are visible to the venue when they set the price.

Why a venue cares

This is the first question a venue owner asks and the easiest one to answer badly. Answer it plainly, before you are asked, and the rest of the money conversation is easy.

How to say it

The number you type is what you earn. Spotly adds its fee on top, and the guest sees the total. Every revenue figure in your panel is your number, not the guest's.

The mistake to avoid

Multiplying the guest-facing price by the number of tickets and calling it the venue's revenue. That number is always too high, and a venue that hears it once will hold you to it.

Important notes

You set the fee, so you can answer this in the room — see Setting the service fee. What you should not do is quote a rate you have not thought about: whatever you agree is what that venue expects from then on, and it is Spotly's revenue you are moving, not your own.

Common questions

Does the guest see a separate 'service fee' line?

For tickets, no — the fee is inside the ticket price the guest sees. Table bookings and umbrella bookings are different: those show a service fee as its own line at checkout.

Can a venue absorb the fee instead of passing it on?

Effectively yes — the venue sets what it wants to earn, so it controls the guest-facing total by choosing its own number.

Is the fee the same for every venue?

No. It is configurable per venue, which is exactly why you should never quote one.
